Vocational Service

Service Above Self Public Safety Forces Awards

The Rotary Club of Westerville Sunrise will recognize an outstanding police officer, firefighter and communications technician for the city of Westerville. This annual award is presented during Vocational Services Month (October) to an individual who, in addition to providing faithful service to our community, has made a significant contribution of time and effort to improving the quality of life for the citizens of Westerville and/or central Ohio. Volunteer service with youth, seniors, physically challenged persons are examples of this type of contribution.

Nominations from the individuals in the three departments being recognized will be accepted as well as from citizens of Westerville, business owners, and merchants in the area. Nominations will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Rotary Club of Westerville Sunrise to determine the honorees from the three Public Safety divisions. The three winners will be recognized at an October Rotary meeting as well as at a Westerville City Council meeting.

The names of the three winners will have their names inscribed on a plaque displayed in the Westerville City Hall, and future honorees will be included on the plaque. Each winner will also be presented with a plaque commemorating his or her selection as a recipient of the Service Above Self Award.
