District Conference - This Week
By now everyone should have received information (either via regular mail or email from the Club) about the upcoming Rotary District  Conference to be held this week, May 10 ? May 13, at the Columbus Marriott North.  The conference is an enormous undertaking for the hosting Club (note that it is a four day event).  As our Club is responsible for hosting next year's District Conference (in 2008), we are encouraging all members to attend in order to get a better idea of what will be expected of us next year.  Anyone who is a chair or co-chair for the 2008 District Conference is required to attend this year's conference.

District Governor Elect Jim Flaherty has registered the following individuals for District Conference.  There is NO Charge to attend the sessions, however, you may NOT eat at any of the meals.  This is so you can see the event but their costs are in food.  You should check in when you attend to pick up a name badge.

Sue Castro
Bill McMurray
Tonya Hardgrove
Scott Marier
Roy Lawson
Jack Pietila
Jim Davis
Pat Knott
Mark Kelly
Mitch Potterf
Denny Berrier
Gene Hollins
Bruce Fowler

If anyone else from the club desires to attend with NO FOOD option, please contact Jim Flaherty at dg66902007@columbus.rr.com as soon as possible.

Youth Exchange - Host Families Needed
Our Rotary club will be sponsoring two inbound exchange students next school year.  They will be attending Westerville North High School.  There have been host families selected for the first part of the year which covers Sept-Dec, 31.  We are still in need of host families for approx 10 weeks (Jan - March 15) then (Mar-May).  Please take a look at their applications (Isabella Cunha - Download PDF and Laura Cataldi - Download PDF) and see what amazing students will be coming.  Host families do not have to Rotarians so if you have friends, neighbors that would be good host parents let us know.  Our club supports host families with time and financial assistance.  Please contact Walter Lundstrom or John Timmerman for more info.

Next Year's Committees

It will be a busy year for our Club. In addition to our normal activities our Club is responsible for running the District Conference in 2008.

Please look over the attached survey (Download PDF) to see where you would like to serve on the available committees.

If you have questions please talk to me or the Committee Chairman or any of the Board Members.

Noon Club Golf Outing Information
The Rotary Club of Westerville (a.k.a., the Noon Club) will be holding their annual golf outing on Friday, May 25th, 2007 at Kyber Run Golf Course in Johnstown.  Please see the attached (Download PDF) registration form if you are interested.

Spring Elementary Leadership Summit
On Friday, May 18th, volunteers will be needed to assist in facilitating three sessions during the Elementary Leadership Summit.  This is a one-day summit for the student representatives, grades 3-5, from all Westerville elementary schools who attended the Fall 2006 summit.

Session facilitators are needed from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 2:45 p.m.  Volunteers will be in charge of working with up to 10 kids in grades 3-5.  Facilitators will receive training from 8:30 to 9:15 on the lesson they will be responsible for facilitating.  A clear, easy to follow lesson plan will be provided and volunteers will have an opportunity to practice the lesson prior to attendees arriving.  Sessions last 35 mintues each and the facilitator will repeat the session three times to three different groups of kids.  Lunch is provided at no charge for all facilitators.  Session topics focus on communication, team roles, and problem-solving/decision making.

If you would like to volunteer or need more information please contact Dr. Scott Ebbrecht at 797-7200 or ebbrechs@wcsoh.org.
